It means reaching back to help young people whove been left out and left behind, helping them prepare for college, helping them pay for college, making sure that great public universities like this one have the funding and support that they need. Because they knew it wasnt enough to welcome women and African American students to Oberlin if they would only graduate in four years to be second-class citizens in their own country. And you have as much responsibility and just as much power to wake up and play your part in our great American story. Create a better, more engaging experience for every student. Michelle Obama: (16:20) I love you all. All right? (Applause.) And finally, most of all, I want to congratulate the men and women of the Tuskegee University Class of 2015! FDRs plan for Social Security was called socialist, a fraud on the workingman. One opponent even stated that it would end the progress of a great country. So that debate was pretty contentious, too. They are smart enough to see through that noise, and they are so hungry for voices that rise above itsmart, compassionate, thoughtful voices like yours. First Lady Michelle Obama used her final commencement address to deliver a series of important messages to this year's graduates. She blew it out of the water. Michelle Obama's speech came more than a year after the university's 260-piece band marched in the inaugural parade for her husband, the nation's first black president. So they took advantage of whatever resources they had in their own time, thundering from the pulpit and the convention floor, penning letters from a jail cell, standing up for their rights in the face of police violence. There were the so-called scientific studies that said that black mens brains were smaller than white mens. And, graduates, its the story that I witness every single day when I wake up in a house that was built by slaves, and I watch my daughters - two beautiful, black young women - head off to school -- (applause) -- waving goodbye to their father, the President of the United States, the son of a man from Kenya who came here to American -- to America for the same reasons as many of you: To get an education and improve his prospects in life. (Applause.) If my generation did trust me, wed have fixed the whole of this long time ago, but that doesnt mean we should feel hopeless. So for those Airmen, the act of flying itself was a symbol of liberation for themselves and for all African Americans. (Applause.) Congratulations. And dont just ask yourselves these questions.
